24 January 2026
Well, the month of January has flown by quickly. After the success of 2025’s Homogeny album gears are firmly switched to focus on my third album, Gunfactor. The 10 track LP, executive produced by Abe Duque and on my furnace room records label, will be released in April 2026.
“Finishing School” is the first single from this album. My original techno mix is accompanied by a rock-solid Christian Smith hard groove techno remix. Artwork and photography are an important part of framing my music with a visual aesthetic. The cover Gunfactor lettering is by famed Brooklyn based artist Al Diaz. The cover photo was taken by the “baron of techno” and noted photographer Dave Clarke.

I wrote “Finishing School”, right after a Christian Smith and John Selway December 2024 webinar, where they created a new techno track in two hours (and this inspired me to do the same, although it took me a little longer…). The title came about as a bit of joke from a friend who thought his daughters could use some refinement, as they became young women. “Finishing School” shimmers with neon melody and side‑chained nostalgia, not to mention choppy vocal samples and a tongue-in-cheek message from yesteryear.
Christian Smith is one of techno’s leading figures, known for his bold, groove-driven productions and high-energy DJ sets. In 1995, he launched Tronic, a globally influential label. Tronic also boasts a weekly radio show syndicated to over 100 stations. Christian's music frequently tops Beatport charts and appears on major labels like Drumcode and Bedrock. He has remixed previous apaull tracks including “LCD” and “Alphabet Loop”.
As I stated in my last newsletter, my goals for 2026 are “to produce the best music possible and then work hard to find an audience who will listen.” I am already working on new music that will become part of two albums that are in development. On the performance side I continue to hone my skills as both DJ and live performer. I’m really gravitating more towards live performance. To that end artist, Andrew Lewis, gave me a great opportunity (big thank-you!) to perform as part of his “Notes from the Mindfield” exhibit at London, Ontario’s “The Arts Project”. I recorded the 90-minute set, and it is available for free (see below, cover by Andrew Lewis).

I am hoping you will consider doing one (or more!) of these things for me:

2. Download FREE live set and follow me on Bandcamp https://apaull.bandcamp.com/track/apaull-live-at-the-arts-project
3. Follow me on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/apaull_music/
Thank-you so much for your ongoing support. It is very much appreciated.
Sincerely Paul
